The Facts:
Nearly 1 in 3 children are overweight or obese and less than 1/3 of kids ages 6 to 17 meet minimum fitness standards.
The Difficulty
As people, as parents and as a community it’s difficult to deal with this problem without support. No one wants to be overweight and unfit; with busy hectic lives and financially challenging times, as well as an over load of conflicting information it’s hard to know how to start dealing with the problem.
That’s why we are here to help you create family support systems that will give you and your loved ones a healthy, active and fun lifestyle in a simple achievable way.

Healthy Cooking Program
Healthy Cooking Program - The Healthy Kidz Club Let's Cook Together! Club
There is no better way to eat healthy than by making it yourself- knowing what goes into your food, making it tasty and wholesome and it save you money.
Equally there is no better way to learn how to make great tasting food than with hands- on cooking classes taught in a fun relaxed way. Our Healthy Cooking Program is divided into two classes; The Healthy Kidz Club that is just for children from the ages of 8 to 16 years and the Let’s Cook Together! Club which is for adults and children. Both run once a week for six weeks and the classes are two hours packed with great tips and tons of fun!
The mission for these classes is to either learn or improve cooking skills, in a healthy way and on a budget, as well as how to incorporate healthy eating in your daily lives.
Each week you get to cook as well as:
Learn pantry basics- the hidden baddies lurking there as well as the goodies!
Learn how to read food labels;
Learn all about yummy tasty good for you carbs, proteins and fats!
Learn how to bake from scratch- even how to make treats like cookies more healthy!
How to shop budget friendly!
The Do’s and Don’t of portion control!
How to choose healthy snacks when you're out and how to make them.
These classes are free. Please note that we rely on donations to run these programs so please check for availability by contacting Louise at 6KidsNFit_gmail.com.

Let's Get Active!
We all know that we should be more active and that being physically fit makes us feel better, but sometimes it’s hard to know where to start.
We are here to teach you and support you in this endeavor, in a way that is both fun and easily incorporated into your everyday lifestyle. You have the option of going to the gym but we provide you with the skills and confidence to be able to get your exercise done in 4 square feet, with no equipment needed and with kids if you have them!
Did You Know?
Every day, on average, 8 to 18 year olds spend:
Nearly 4 hours watching TV, videos, DVDs, and prerecorded shows
Just over 1 hour on the computer
And 50 minutes playing video games
Let's Make It "Do-able"!
Join us each week to learn how to make exercise a "do-able" part of your day both for you and your kids! We are at the Boys & Girls Clubs Inc. an Fruitville Road on Wednesdays after work.
